About the Registry

The VitalStim Registry is a worldwide listing of VitalStim Providers who have completed training and passed the competency tests in the VitalStim Therapy Specialty Program (formerly called the VitalStim Certification course). This program trains dysphagia therapists in the safe and effective use of VitalStim Therapy. CIAO Seminars is the exclusive provider of this training program and has trained over 23,000 therapists in 40 countries around the world. VitalStim Providers have incredible success in helping their patients to improve their swallowing and ultimately their quality of life. The Registry serves to help patient, families and physicians locate qualified Providers.

Since the beginning of VitalStim in 2002, CIAO Seminars has been the exclusive provider of all VitalStim education. CIAO Seminars owns the copyright to all VitalStim training material, in the US and internationally

What does it mean to be current?

Who is on the registry?
VitalStim Providers who have received their Specialty Certificate or renewed within the last three years.

VitalStim Providers who are current with their training in the VitalStim Therapy Specialty Program (completed or renewed within the last three years) and choose to be listed. The Registry includes Providers in 40 different countries.

If I am not "current", am I still a VitalStim Provider?

Why every 3 years?

Yes, once a therapist passes the training program, they are VitalStim Providers and remain so.

As part of the national accreditation of the VitalStim Therapy Specialty Program, a 3 year renewal was implemented to meet NCCA standards. This requirement also allows the public searching for potential providers in their area to find therapists who are familiar with up-to-date research, placements, protocols and safety guidelines.

Why is there a 3 year requirement to be listed on the Registry?

How are Providers listed?

As part of the recent national accreditation of the VitalStim Therapy Specialty Program, a 3 year renewal was implemented to meet NCCA standards. This requirement also allows the public searching for potential Providers in their area to find therapists who are familiar with up-to-date research, placements, protocols and safety guidelines.

In the United States, current Providers are listed by their facility zip code. Outside of the United States, Providers are listed according to country.

Why am I not on the registry?

What if my therapist is not on the list?

If you are a current VitalStim Provider, you should be listed by your facility's zip code. If you are not, please verify your CIAO profile and ensure you are not designated to be "unlisted."

Verify that your therapist has completed the VitalStim training through CIAO Seminars. This will be listed on their certificate. Some Providers choose not to be listed, others may not be current. If you have any questions, email us by clicking here.

How can I update my information?

What if my therapist did not attend VitalStim training by CIAO?

VitalStim Providers are able to update their information including a change in name, facility or listing preference at any time by logging into their account at www.ciaoseminars.com and updating their profile.
